GitRainbow Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of GitRainbow, a desktop Git client provided by Colorcode ("we", "us"). We have kept them short and plain. The short version: GitRainbow is a free beta, you use it at your own risk, and we are not responsible for anything that happens when you do. By downloading, installing, or using GitRainbow, you agree to everything below.

1. The software is a beta

GitRainbow is pre-release, in-progress software. It may be incomplete, unstable, or change or stop working at any time. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue GitRainbow, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, without notice and without any liability to you.

2. Permission to use it

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable permission to install and use GitRainbow for your own use. You may not resell it, rent it, or claim it as your own. That permission can be withdrawn at any time. All rights in GitRainbow that are not expressly granted to you remain ours.

3. No warranty of any kind

GitRainbow is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that GitRainbow will work, be uninterrupted or error-free, be secure, meet your needs, or that any defect will be fixed. You are solely responsible for deciding whether GitRainbow is appropriate for you and for any results of using it.

4. You use it entirely at your own risk

GitRainbow operates on your local Git repositories and can add, change, stage, discard, reset, rebase, and delete data. You are responsible for keeping your own backups and for reviewing every action before you confirm it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you assume all risk arising from your use of GitRainbow, including any loss of code, data, or work.

5. We are not liable

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we (and anyone involved in creating or providing GitRainbow) will not be liable to you or anyone else for any damages of any kind arising out of or related to GitRainbow or these terms. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, and any lost profits, lost data, lost work, business interruption, or cost of substitute software, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If any law that applies to you does not allow some of the exclusions above, then to the maximum extent permitted by that law our total liability to you for all claims relating to GitRainbow is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for GitRainbow (which, for the beta, is zero) or one US dollar.

6. You cover us

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of GitRainbow or your breach of these terms.

7. Third-party services

GitRainbow works with tools and services we do not control, such as the Git binary on your computer, your Git hosts and remotes, and GitHub. Your use of those tools and services is governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them or for anything they do.

8. Your data stays with you

GitRainbow is designed to run locally on your machine. It does not require an account and is not built to send your code or repository contents to us. Credentials you provide for your remotes are stored using your operating system's secure storage. You remain responsible for the security of your own machine, accounts, and credentials.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using GitRainbow after a change, you accept the updated terms.

10. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding GitRainbow.
